If there is one question that is almost always guaranteed to be asked after a Living River performance, it is, “How do you sing that low?”

Honestly, I don’t know.

Well, I know, but I don’t… never mind. You know what I mean, don’t you? What I do know is that it is a talent from God and that all things are possible through God. “Seek the Lord and live.” Amos 5:6

My voice just happened to change more at the age of twelve than most other boys’ voices; and I have been singing bass ever since. One of the fondest memories I have as a child growing up on our family farm happened on a Saturday afternoon when I had just come in for dinner after finishing my chores. I was washing up and my mom began to call me because she wanted me to watch this certain group on TV performing their #1 hit.

Well, it was my first exposure to The Oak Ridge Boys and four-part power harmony. And yes, you guessed it; they were performing “Elvira.” I was only twelve years old and I was hitting all of the “oom pa pa – mow mows.” I knew right then and there that that is what I wanted to do when I got older.

Not only am I older and singing in a gospel quartet, but Living River had the opportunity through the years to meet The Oak Ridge Boys, Florida Boys, Jeff and Sherry Easter, Acappella, The Nylons, and The Blackwood Gospel Quartet.

As owner of Living River, singing bass and arranging the vocal harmonies since it began in 1987 has been a labor of love. I am very privileged to be able to sing with three of my high school buddies. We have so much fun performing together it should be illegal. All joking aside, we get to tell people about the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ through music. It’s an awesome honor!

On a more personal note, all of this would not have been possible without the support of my wife Tammy. She has been with me since the beginning of Living River. She is a wonderful, best friend and the love my life. Tammy and I have been blessed with two wonderful children.
